A Birthday Of The Past

Thank you guys for the very sweet birthday wishes that you all left in yesterday’s post, and through email/social media. Talk about the perfect cherry to top off a perfect day!

My morning began with a singing mama + oreo ice cream cake at 5:30 AM. Chocolate? Oreos? Ice cream? Come on, what more could a birthday girl ask for?

Of course, I had a slice immediately post-breakfast

The hours at work went surprisingly faster than expected, thanks to many courteous birthday wishes from fellow staff members and patients. My boss, knowing that Will and I had undisclosed plans for the rest of the afternoon, even decided to let me off an hour early!

Buuuut when I mentioned yesterday that Will had “something up his sleeve” for my birthday, I should’ve known better than to think it would be some kind of simple surprise. In reality, the day was full of many different epic moments, starting from the very instant that I pulled up in front of my house–

Yeah. He’s pretty amazing.

There’s no reaction video (thank goodness), but to improvise just imagine me with a gaping jaw and tears in my eyes. What can I say? I’m a charmer

And as if that weren’t enough, within an hour or so (after more ice cream cake) I was swept into Will’s car and told that our mission for the day was to re-live all of the moments that we experienced two years ago when we first re-met during my winter break home from UCF (which you can read more about here). We started with Will’s favorite, mini golf.

It was a really close game, but somehow I ended up winning by two measly points. I tried to explain to Will that the odds were naturally heavily piled against him, due to it being my birthday and all. I think that made him feel a little better

Next up, bowling (MY favorite!)

Complete with cheeseburgers, sans the bun for me.

I’m convinced that the birthday forces were STILL in my favor because I somehow managed to pull through in our game of bowling as well. That, or it could also be the bowling classes I took during my senior year at UCF, which some of you long-term readers might remember.

Although the bowling classes have yet to prevail me into pro-status. But hey, a girl can dream

And last but not least, our final destination was Fridays, the restaurant where it ALL began two years ago. Flashback to 2010:

We started with an order of the sweet potato fries

and finished with a chicken cobb salad for me,

plus a giant bowl of cajun shrimp pasta for Will.

Without a doubt, my twenty-third birthday ended up being one of my favorite ones yet. I couldn’t have asked for a better way to celebrate, nor could I have asked for a more thoughtful man to share it with.

Or a different ice cream cake to have in my freezer. Leftovers anyone?
