All Things Green

I was all dressed up and ready to run this morning when it dawned on me—I didn’t feel like running at all!

Instead, I made the quick call to stick with one of my all-time favorites. Out came the yoga mat and on went the Bodyrock.

The site has changed so much in the past few months since Zuzana left, and I personally like her older workouts a bit better. The newer videos seem to confuse me and have me stopping mid-circuit to review what kind of crazy move I was in the midst of. Luckily, reaching into the archives is no biggie. Zuzana’s 16 minute Only Girl In The World workout suited my fancy so that’s exactly what I did—became the only girl in the world for the next 16 minutes 8)

–Or so I made it seem by the way I was huffing, puffing, and stomping on my apartment floor (sorry underneath neighbors). Post workout, I sipped a measuring cup of skim milk for recovery protein & carbs.

Milk is becoming one of my workout recovery staples! The NASM nutrition chapter convinced me to start drinking my protein at the end of my sweat sessions (quicker access to the muscles!), and I’ve never been too big on protein powders. Maybe once in a blue moon, but I prefer to get my fix through other sources during the day.

Ahem.. beans, turkey bacon, fish..

Speaking of fish– you’re welcome 8)

Tuna Avocado Salad

Serves: One, but can be easily doubled

Time: 5 minutes

Ingredients:

  • 1/2 medium ripe avocado
  • 1/2 can or (2-3 oz) white tuna fish
  • 2 tbsp 0% Fage Greek yogurt
  • Salt & Pepper to taste

Directions:

  1. Mash avocado in a bowl (you may also use a food processor if you so desire.) Drain tuna fish and add to avocado mixture. Add yogurt and season with salt and pepper to taste.
  2. Enjoy the salad piled on your favorite open-faced sandwich bread, in a salad, or as a cracker topping!

For lunch, I divided my portion and served it open-faced style on two slices of Ener-G white rice toast, and steamed asparagus on the side.

A little birdie told me that next month will be made up of all things green in the What I Ate Wednesday world. I might have to jump back on the bandwagon just for the sake of celebrating with this green gem

Time to meet the chiropractor!

A bit to think about: What is your post-workout meal of choice?
