“Early to bed, early to rise.”
Or in my case—”no matter how late I ‘bed’, early to rise.”
Regardless of how late I go to sleep, my internal body clock naturally wants to wake up no later than 6:00 AM. You might call this a curse, but I would prefer to call it “the essence of productivity”
Last night’s pre-salsa eats:
A bowl of Whole Foods multigrain mushroom soup
edamame succotash
and this last minute snack:
Rice cake with Maranatha Almond Butter and Smuckers Simply Fruit strawberry jelly
While I was noshing on all of these eats, my roommate Nicole went to our apartment gym and did my 10-10-10 Quick Interval Workout. Needless to say, I was very pleased when she came back in a sweaty floury
Last night I tweeted:
And shake my little white booty I did. The organization of the class was very similar to that of a middle school P.E. class. You know the whole “picking teams” concept where the leaders pick their teammates and everybody crosses their fingers hoping that they aren’t the last to get selected? Well yeah—that’s how salsa class went down last night except the guys were the “leaders” and the girls just stood and waited around for some guy to come and “salsa” her off of her feet.
By the end of the class, I managed to have danced with at least 20 guys, had one guy apologize to me for his nerves and sweaty palms, have another guy greet me with a wink and a “hello beautiful”, and have some other guy smell his armpit & literally apologize for his odor.
Overall, regardless of the awkward moments, salsa was a blasty & I’m pretty stoked to shake my little white booty again next week
This morning I tried the Bob’s Red Mill rolled spelt that I received in the mail about a week ago.
The verdict? Spelty balls of fire 8)
1/4 cup Bob’s Red Mill spelt flakes, 1/4 cup oats, 1 Tbsp chia seeds (using chia seed method), sliced banana, nutmeg, cinnamon, Truvia, and blueberries. Topped with almond butter and PB & Co. chocolate peanut butter.
Adios amigos! I’m going to go to check some things off of my to-do list
A bit to think about: Do you like to shake your booty?

Oh my gosh.. I want to take a Salsa class!! That sounds like so so much fun!
Glad you enjoyed it! I would love to try a salsa class.
I highly recommend it
That’s hysterical that some guy actually smelled himself in front of you! HA!
I took dance classes growing up, but haven’t since I graduated high school.
Oh, & I love waking up early! The older I get, the earlier I wake up. I hate feeling like I’m wasting part of the day!
That salsa class sounds like so much fun
and all of your eats look delish, especially that edamame succotash!
Oh no way! Awkward! ….. Other than that, SUPER fun!!
Hope you are super productive and have a great day!
I love to dance, its one of my favorite activities! White, Latin, whatever you are, dancing’s for everyone — it’s all about having a good time
You said it, sister
I DO like to shake my booty! I won’t lie though, I am a bit more secure with doing it if I have had a bit to drink…whoops
That is a lot of good eating! I love to shake my booty…especially in Zumba class
A girl after my own heart– I’m a zumba lovah!
Dude, waking up at 6am is a good thing, trust me! I’m trying to train myself to wake up at 5…but that just means I have to go to bed super early!
I’m interested in those spelt flakes, did they take a long time to cook?
Actually not long at all! I’d say overall about 10 mins, but thats about the amount of time it takes me to add all of the extras anyway
Haha your recap of the guys you danced with totally made me laugh out loud. I don’t know if I’d be able to keep a straight face if the guy I was dancing with was smelling his pits. I do love to dance, though, and salsa is soooo much fun. I took some classes at a little Mexican club back in the day, and you can’t help but be in a good mood when you’re shakin’ your booty to catchy tunes. Love it!
that sounds amazing! guys are too funny. i bet you looked awesome out there!
Haha ehh I don’t know about “awesome”, but I was trying
Glad you had fun in salsa! That sounds like fun…although a little awkward!
who doesn’t like to shake their booty every now and then?
I’m an early bird too! Always up by 5 or 6 regardless of my bedtime. Mornings are my most productive time of day!
Your salsa class sounds like so much fun! My husband and I took one class in college and I think I have two left feet.
He loves to boogy! I try to keep up the best I can.
Bahahah! that Salsa class sounds like so much fun!
oooo I have always wanted to take salsa lessons!!!! Lol Ryan always said I wasn’t for him…but I think he will change his mind, its a HAWT DAnce!!
xxoo
Haha I told Will he’s going to be my official practice partner
I LOVE to dance! It’s fun and the best workout. I would love to take a salsa class… sounds like a blast
They have salsa classes at the gym on the air force base here and I tried talking John into it. No such luck…yet.
I just “lol”ed reading this post… those guys are hilarious and ridiculous! Ballerina Meredith cannot shake her booty… doesn’t mean I don’t try though!!
Haha! Don’t worry Meredith, I’m no sight to see either.
I’m in it just to have a good time
Sounds sooo fun! I love shaking my booty and looking like a fool! My roommates and friend are coming back this week to start the school year, and I hope to go to hang out and dance with them soon!
Glad you had a blast!
So jealous you’re taking a salsa class, that’s definitely on my bucket list.
My dad recites that “early to bed, early to rise” quote to me on a daily basis…I’m finally realizing how true it is!
OMG I love salsa dancing!! I actually learned while on a cruise haha
Salsa sounds fun and awkward all at the same time!
The thing i love about zumba is you don’t have to worry about partners as i know 100% my guy would not want to attend salsa dancing lessons, lol!
HA! Guys are so funny sometimes!!
Whenever a guy walks up and says “hello beautiful”, I don’t know why, but I bust out laughing. I feel bad for laughing because the guys all “what the heck is going on? why are you laughing??”. I guess I really am a weirdo
Salsa dancing sounded like so much fun though! I do like shaking my booty, but I’m not good at it so I avoid shaking it.
Yay! I am honored to have been featured on your lovely blog
)
And let me just say I am sore all over from that beastly 10-10-10 workout!
I’m glad you had such a great first day of school and a fun time in your salsa class! That’s so funny that it was like pe class in the boys picking… takes me back to hoping that the cute boy would pick me to dance with! And omg I can’t believe a guy literally smelled his armpit in front of you… gross! But I feel like this class will provide lots of funny stories for the blog
BTW your breakfast looks delicious!!
Oooh salsa dancing sounds like fun! Not sure I could keep up though!
I love dancing! I wish I weren’t such an awkward goof whenever I tried doing it though.
I bought almond butter for the first time today! I’m excited to try it out. I hope I’ll like it less than PB so I can switch and not eat as much of it all the time. hahaha. I don’t know what to eat it on though. A banana? I don’t have any rice cakes…
Bananas and almond butter are great! Do you eat oatmeal? It’s also a great topper.
But the BEST is toast with almond butter and banana slices
Yay I’m glad you had a good time!
I really want to try a class so it’s good to get someone else’s perspective on it first
I went to salsa once and enjoyed the dancing, but hating waiting around for a man to ask me to dance – I’m not at all confident at that sort of thing and never went back. I think maybe I’m a bit more confident now, so I would give it another go.
Go for it Sarah
It actually isn’t as difficult as it seems
I like to shake my booty… as long as no one is looking
I do an adult Tap class for fun though, and we do a performance twice at the end of the year showing off the routine. My nerves almost fry every time! lol
Im not a booty shaker haha I would like to be, but Im pretty uncoordinated in terms of the booty shake. I can line dance though
Now THAT is admirable. I can’t line dance for my life!
love Bob’s Red Mill stuff! and um….I crank my tuneskis every morning and shake my booty to get me ready and rarin to go each day
Haha! Atta girl, Jenny
YUM that spelt looks good! Never tried it but might have to now!!
I’ve never salsad (is that how you spell it?). I’ve always wanted to, it looks like so much fun!
I love zumba classes and shaking my booty hehe
