Little White Booty

by Brittany on August 23, 2011

“Early to bed, early to rise.”

Or in my case—”no matter how late I ‘bed’, early to rise.”

Regardless of how late I go to sleep, my internal body clock naturally wants to wake up no later than 6:00 AM. You might call this a curse, but I would prefer to call it “the essence of productivity” ;)

Last night’s pre-salsa eats:

salsabowling 002

A bowl of Whole Foods multigrain mushroom soup

salsabowling 003

edamame succotash

and this last minute snack:

salsabowling 005

Rice cake with Maranatha Almond Butter and Smuckers Simply Fruit strawberry jelly

While I was noshing on all of these eats, my roommate Nicole went to our apartment gym and did my 10-10-10 Quick Interval Workout. Needless to say, I was very pleased when she came back in a sweaty floury :)

Last night I tweeted:

tweetbooty

And shake my little white booty I did. The organization of the class was very similar to that of a middle school P.E. class. You know the whole “picking teams” concept where the leaders pick their teammates and everybody crosses their fingers hoping that they aren’t the last to get selected? Well yeah—that’s how salsa class went down last night except the guys were the “leaders” and the girls just stood and waited around for some guy to come and “salsa” her off of her feet.

By the end of the class, I managed to have danced with at least 20 guys, had one guy apologize to me for his nerves and sweaty palms, have another guy greet me with a wink and a “hello beautiful”, and have some other guy smell his armpit & literally apologize for his odor.

Overall, regardless of the awkward moments, salsa was a blasty & I’m pretty stoked to shake my little white booty again next week :)

This morning I tried the Bob’s Red Mill rolled spelt that I received in the mail about a week ago.

russon 015

The verdict? Spelty balls of fire 8)

salsabowling 006

1/4 cup Bob’s Red Mill spelt flakes, 1/4 cup oats, 1 Tbsp chia seeds (using chia seed method), sliced banana, nutmeg, cinnamon, Truvia, and blueberries. Topped with almond butter and PB & Co. chocolate peanut butter.

Adios amigos! I’m going to go to check some things off of my to-do list :)

A bit to think about: Do you like to shake your booty?

That’s hysterical that some guy actually smelled himself in front of you! HA!

I took dance classes growing up, but haven’t since I graduated high school.

Oh, & I love waking up early! The older I get, the earlier I wake up. I hate feeling like I’m wasting part of the day! :-)

Dude, waking up at 6am is a good thing, trust me! I’m trying to train myself to wake up at 5…but that just means I have to go to bed super early!

I’m interested in those spelt flakes, did they take a long time to cook?

Itty Bits of Balance August 23, 2011 at 11:05 am

Actually not long at all! I’d say overall about 10 mins, but thats about the amount of time it takes me to add all of the extras anyway :)

Haha your recap of the guys you danced with totally made me laugh out loud. I don’t know if I’d be able to keep a straight face if the guy I was dancing with was smelling his pits. I do love to dance, though, and salsa is soooo much fun. I took some classes at a little Mexican club back in the day, and you can’t help but be in a good mood when you’re shakin’ your booty to catchy tunes. Love it!

So jealous you’re taking a salsa class, that’s definitely on my bucket list.
My dad recites that “early to bed, early to rise” quote to me on a daily basis…I’m finally realizing how true it is!

Salsa sounds fun and awkward all at the same time!
The thing i love about zumba is you don’t have to worry about partners as i know 100% my guy would not want to attend salsa dancing lessons, lol!

HA! Guys are so funny sometimes!! :P Whenever a guy walks up and says “hello beautiful”, I don’t know why, but I bust out laughing. I feel bad for laughing because the guys all “what the heck is going on? why are you laughing??”. I guess I really am a weirdo :P Salsa dancing sounded like so much fun though! I do like shaking my booty, but I’m not good at it so I avoid shaking it. :P

I’m glad you had such a great first day of school and a fun time in your salsa class! That’s so funny that it was like pe class in the boys picking… takes me back to hoping that the cute boy would pick me to dance with! And omg I can’t believe a guy literally smelled his armpit in front of you… gross! But I feel like this class will provide lots of funny stories for the blog :) BTW your breakfast looks delicious!!

I bought almond butter for the first time today! I’m excited to try it out. I hope I’ll like it less than PB so I can switch and not eat as much of it all the time. hahaha. I don’t know what to eat it on though. A banana? I don’t have any rice cakes…

Itty Bits of Balance August 23, 2011 at 4:40 pm

Bananas and almond butter are great! Do you eat oatmeal? It’s also a great topper.

But the BEST is toast with almond butter and banana slices :D

I went to salsa once and enjoyed the dancing, but hating waiting around for a man to ask me to dance – I’m not at all confident at that sort of thing and never went back. I think maybe I’m a bit more confident now, so I would give it another go.
